Hi, I'm Amy! My two ultimate pastimes are running and cake. Which is really the perfect relationship because more run = more cake! 

 

That's the short and sweet version. I'm also a mom to four crazy fun kids and wife to an outdoorsman-chemist (hence the inspiration for the Cake Lab logo.) We run, fish, hike, and explore in the wild beauty of Central Oregon. The fun, humor, and whimsy of life is frequently translated into my cake designs!

Making cake for me is more than colored fondant and flavored batter. Cake means celebration, something that gathers people around a table and makes them happy. I love the shouts of surprise from the six-year-old who sees his favorite lego creation that he can eat. I love hearing about moments in a person's life that they love and recreating that in frosting. I love bringing happiness to a party because you just have to smile when you see a pig covered in chocolate crumbs.

From making birthday cakes as the kids grow up to commemorating showers, weddings, and baby celebrations for friends, Cake Lab has brought me a truly unexpected community. And I'll take that slice of happiness any day!
